The Inspiration
A few years ago, my husband and I took a weekend trip to the Alvord Desert — the kind of adventure that lives in your memory like a record you can replay. We sat on warm rocks sipping wine under the full moon, made fresh French press coffee on the open playa, and soaked in the steamy hot springs in the early mornings.
This landscape always makes me smile when I think back on it, so I wanted to capture that memory in paint. My hope is that this piece can transport you — even briefly — to the vastness of the Alvord Desert, the quiet beauty of the Steens Mountains, and the sense of wonder that exists out there in wild, open nature.

Frame: Douglas Fir frame made locally in Bend, Oregon
Medium: Acrylic on canvas. This work has gold paint that will glimmer and change with the light throughout the day!
