The Inspiration
I drove to the Steens mountains for the first time a couple of years ago and I have craved this place since I've left. There were sunflowers lining the drive as we entered the park, and as my partner and I set up camp I became aware of the beautiful aura that this place holds. The landscape is unlike anything else I had seen before. The flat cracked dry lakebed that meets mountains is such a striking scene. After spending the weekend here waking up for sunrise soaks in the hot springs, hiking into the mountains, and enjoying the moonlit evenings over a glass of wine I knew I had to create paintings inspired by the magic experienced here.
